Are you cheating yourself?

Downcoding, the practice of reducing the level of service for an E&M (Evaluation and Management) procedure reduces your practice's profitability.

Up-coding, the opposite of downcoding, is illegal and if done consistently, could result in large fines, or worse. So it is no surprise that many practices downcode when they are unsure what level of service to assign to an encounter.

We have developed our Level of Service Advisor to help you quickly figure out the proper level of service so that you will neither cheat yourself, nor subject yourself to legal trouble.

When you search for procedure codes, hover your mouse over a code in the search results. You will get a drop-down menu. There you will see a button labelled "Level of Service Advisor." Click on it to get detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to assign the proper level of service.

We support both the '95 and '97 rules, which you can select from the Preferences tab.
